Spanish and Robert Lansdorp

Yesterday I finally completed the project of translating one of my books into Spanish. Next, I will likely translate it into French, then Russian, and then Italian. Ultimately, I aim to reach every tennis-playing language group. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FT8QN2F3/

The next project to complete will be "How to Build a Tennis Champion" by Robert Lansdorp. A few years back, as Robert's heart was having some significant problems and he was not sure he would make it, he texted me to say, "If I die, write the book". If you had seen Robert in a public forum, you probably saw the gruff performer, as he really sold the hard shell exterior. He was honest and up front about every opinion he held, and he didn't polish up the packaging much. Those who spent time with him, enough to see his softer side, saw the big, lovable teddy bear and the gleam in his eye, which said, "I'm pulling your chain." Those children who loved Robert a lot and would laugh at his tough talk, those who did not understand how he qualified people, often left crying. I have met more than a few people who left Robert crying and turned out ok. He certainly wasn't for everyone, but he did not want to be. When that book comes out, it meets us at a cultural moment when people are shifting their approach, and it seems okay to be politically incorrect. The funny thing about Robert is that nothing he says is earth-shattering and innovative; instead, it's everything you knew was true but were afraid to say. Rober said, "I never went through any training, except my own college playing (Pepperdine). I just knew what to do." The magic of Robert was the coaching effect, also known as the Hawthorne Effect, where people improve simply because they are being observed and given feedback. Robert's players had to figure it out because he demanded that they do. If you have ever witnessed him on court, there is quite a bit of "Not like that! Like THIS!" It's not genius or inspiration, it's hard work, discipline, and paying attention to what you are doing. People have been begging for this book for decades. For almost 10 years, I have had possession of everything Robert has written or was written about him during his lifetime, stored in a large box. I have compiled it and been boiling it down to essentials. I hope to have that published by the end of October. Hopefully, much sooner.
